Traveling with TED!

Have you traveled or taken a vacation since your TED Diagnosis? Do you have any tips or advice to help those nervous about traveling?

  1. Does anyone have issues with balance and depth perception because one eye is not aligned with the other.

    1. , that is a common issue in our community, for sure! You are not alone in struggling with this. In this article one of our patient leaders shares her experience with it: https://thyroideyedisease.net/living/unexpected-symptom All the best, Sam S. (TED Team).

    2. Yes, I do experience this. Sometimes I feel like my eyes and my mind are not in sync. I must work very hard while walking, especially on uneven surfaces to tell my brain how to tell my feet what to do, if that makes sense. I also continually encourage myself to remain positive and show myself some grace when the symptoms, like these, get in my way. I encourage you to do the same. All the best, Gail G. (ThyroidEyeDisease.net, moderator)

  2. Yep. Though consultant has never talked about this

    1. , it is definitely not talked about enough! Do you have any tips that have helped you deal with it to share with the community? Best, Sam S. (TED Team).

  3. I wear FL-41 glasses, made for people who experience migraine headaches due to fluorescent lighting. They work great for blocking harsh indoor lighting

    1. , that is a great tip! Thank you for sharing. All the best, Sam S. (TED Team).

  4. Has anyone had surgery to correct eye alignment and what were the utcomes

    1. , i'm confident if anyone has had this surgery they will jump in with their experience but you may find others may see your question if it is in it's own forum so to start a discussion on it you can go here: ThyroidEyeDisease.net/forums. Also, here is an article on the surgery that you might find helpful : https://thyroideyedisease.net/eye-muscle-surgery All the best, Sam S (TED Team).
