How has TED impacted you?

How has TED impacted your life? (Daily life, relationships, emotional well-being, etc.)

  1. It impacted my self-esteem, my relationship( low sex drive), well-being, has caused me to isolate. Feeling so depressed, vision struggling to drive, freaking out because of my double vision , anxiety, and the stress. Then I meet Tepezza and it changed my life for the better I will be on my 4th treatment Nov.28th, and Dec.6 I will have surgery to have my thyroid removed . Scared about that! Diagnosed with TED aka Graves Disease has made me Strong, taught me the value of my vision and how important my vision is? I could of been blind?😭that I need to take better care of myself.

    1. I am glad you're getting better, you've been through a lot. One thing about this disease that I always say is it taught me how much I took advantage of my vision. Most people don't think about their eyes. I certainly didn't until I everything changed one day. It's made me grateful for what I do have. Thinking of you as you continue your journey with treatment and surgery. It's scary but you got this!
Best, Kelly S. Contributor and Moderator.

  2. I'm tired from trying to see when in low lights or when driving at night. My bulging eye causes pain at times.

    1. ugh I hear how frustrating and painful this must be for you. You're not the only one who struggles with driving, especially at night, because of your TED! Here is an article we have by one of our health leaders who has had a similar struggle: https://thyroideyedisease.net/living/driving. All the best, Sam S (TED Team).

  3. TED has made me far more self conscious than I have ever been in all my life. I can’t leave the house without a pair of sunglasses and it’s truly self defeating. I’m trying really hard to stay on the bring side of things.

    1. This sounds so hard, sending you big hugs!! I know many community members can relate to what you're feeling. It's unfair that TED robs you of so much. Please know we're here for you, we understand. I wanted to share an article with you that gives some insight and strategies on how to cope with TED. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything! Sending positive vibes and hugs your way! -Beth (Team Member)

  4. TED made me hate to look in the mirror. I already have low self esteem, this doesn't help. I Crack jokes before others do so I can cope. I cannot drive too far as I don't feel safe. therefore, I have to count on family members. what if I can't work

    1. I just want to give you a big hug, this sounds so tough. I know many community members can relate to how you're feeling. Please know we're always here for you!
