Having thyroid eye disease can take a toll on your physical, emotional, and social health. What are some ways you practice self-care to manage your stressors?
First of all let me say hello to everyone who's reading my small tip for TED.
First thing when I wake up, I put a warm wash cloth on both eyes.as often as needed to get that sticky dry swelling down. Then after I'm dressed for work I put 2 drops of refresh gel drops in both eyes. Sometimes I put a couple of drops in my eyes before bed.
I also try to wear sunglasses when in the sun, and I notice being on my phone or computer for a long period of time. Make my eyes sensitive and I have to put my sunglasses on.

While in the active phase I remember doing all of the self care steps you are doing. I want to share with you a special type of sun glasses that soothed my eyes more than the normal types. They are called FL-41sun glasses. They are great for photophobia associated with migraines and relieve painful light sensitivity and protect your eyes under fluorescent lighting. I really feel a difference when wearing the. I found mine on amazon. Wishing you all the best. Roxann K. Moderator

Hiding away

I certainly know that feeling. After forty years on my own chronic illness journey there have been times, sometimes years at a clip, when I played the hermit. I just didn't feel like going out and doing the whole "I'm fine, etc" dance. You know how it is, I'm sure. It can be exhausting. Just know that you can always come here to chant, vent, ask questions, or just be around others who really get it! Keep on keepin' on, DPM

I wear moisture chamber goggles (my halos - brand name) when I sleep. they keep moisture in my eyes & when I wake up I dont have the sandpaper eye feeling. plus, I make sure to do one thing a day that I enjoy.

Good advice I think for many - if you can, do something you enjoy every day! It isn't always easy but it can certianly help the emotional state! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
