Eye Muscle Surgery

Has anyone in our community had eye muscle surgery? Please share your experiences in the comments below!

  1. I am also community member157 And yes I has eye muscle certify in August and am about 80 percent back to seeing normal. At night when I get tired or watch to much TV I start seeing double again which I am not sure how that works, is my eye misaligned again? I don't think so but I am not going to complain, I am just so greatful to have that 80 percent! I will stop with that since I can drive safely again. Hip-hip hooray!

  2. I had eye muscle surgery about six months ago to correct a longstanding issue with eye alignment. The procedure was straightforward and took less than an hour. I was a bit nervous at first, but the staff made me feel comfortable and well-informed throughout the process. The recovery was quicker than I expected—my eyes were sore for a few days, but the discomfort was manageable with over-the-counter pain relief.

By the end of the first week, I noticed a significant improvement in how my eyes were aligning, and my vision was much clearer. The follow-up appointments showed great progress, and now I feel much more confident with my eye alignment. I’m so glad I went through with the surgery and would recommend it to anyone considering it!

    1. This is great news, thank you so much for feeling comfortable and sharing with us. I'm so happy to hear you had such a good experience! How are you doing today? Sending positive thoughts and vibes your way! -Beth (Team Member)

  3. Eye muscle surgery corrects misaligned eyes by adjusting the muscles around the eye. It's often an outpatient procedure with a short recovery time, improving vision and alignment.

    1. Thanks for the info!! Have you had this done before? If so, we'd love to hear about your experience! -Beth (Team Member)

  4. I have had 6 eye muscle surgeries, two on my right eye, and 4 on my left eye. I will probably need one more on my left eye because I still have a twist in one of the muscles. Because of TED's, my muscles are very stiff and hard to adjust, but it would be very nice NOT see double all the time. But I have learned to tilt my head with a slight twist, and I can see single vision. I have also had decompression surgery on both eyes. I have had TED's since November 2012, and it has become active twice since then. I am now inactive again, and I pray it stays that way.
Recovery time from surgery was very simple for me. Two or three days of soreness, lots of black eyes, but that fades quickly, and Ice packs feel wonderful after surgery. Using the eye drops are a MUST and makes things go smoothly.

    1. Well, just know you are not alone! So many of our community members know exaxtly how you are feeling and what you are going through. Hopefully it helps, at least a little bit, to know that! Let us know if there's anything else we can do from here to help. Keep on keepin' on, DPM

    2. I also had Tepezza and had about a 40% hearing loss in both ears. I am getting adjusted to not hearing. Just turn the TV up louder. My daughter bought me some hearing enhancers that make it a lot easier to hear conversations, but they don't work well in crowds, and I end up taking them out. They also don't like all the machines in medical facilities and squeal. Ugh. I had an auto accident in May and the hit to my head has caused my double vision to come back. I will see my eye surgeon next month about that. Time will tell if it will correct itself or not. I pray your journey with this autoimmune disease goes smoothly.
