Has anyone here dealt with Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)? What symptoms did you experience, and what helped you manage the discomfort or appearance changes?

Thyroid Eye Disease is an autoimmune condition often linked with hyperthyroidism or Graves' disease, causing inflammation, bulging eyes, eye pain, double vision, and dryness. It's not just cosmetic—it can seriously affect vision and daily life.

Treatment can include eye drops, steroids, Tepezza (Teprotumumab) for active TED, or even surgery in more advanced cases. Many people also find relief with cool compresses, selenium supplements, or wearing UV-blocking sunglasses.

whether you're newly diagnosed, living with TED, or supporting someone who is, your experience can help others feel less alone.
What worked for you? What was the most challenging part? Drop your story or tips below!

  1. Hey Jared,

I’ve been dealing with Thyroid Eye Disease for about a year now, and the dryness and pressure behind my eyes were the toughest parts early on. Cool compresses and lubricating drops helped a lot, and wearing sunglasses outdoors made a big difference for sensitivity. My doctor also started me on Tepezza, which really reduced the swelling over time.

The emotional side was challenging too — adjusting to changes in appearance and double vision wasn’t easy — but connecting with others who understand has helped a lot. Managing stress and keeping my thyroid levels stable have also been key in keeping symptoms under control.
