What questions do you have about thyroid eye disease (TED)?

What questions do you have about thyroid eye disease (TED)? Ask any questions related to thyroid eye disease! Maybe you have a specific question about the condition, living with it, or caring for/supporting someone who has it.

Let's see if we can help each other find the answers through personal experiences or articles!

  1. what has been identified as the most effective treatment to help symptoms of TED and for how long does this treatment help?

  2. One big question I had early on was: How do you know if your eye symptoms are from Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) and not something else, like allergies or dry eyes? Symptoms like eye bulging, dryness, or double vision can be confusing at first.

What helped me was getting a comprehensive eye examination from a trusted provider. I visited Cunningham Optical One, and their team was incredibly thorough in evaluating my symptoms and explaining how TED affects eye health specifically.

If anyone is unsure about their symptoms or how to manage them, a proper exam with an experienced optometrist can make a world of difference. I would love to hear how others first recognized TED or what care helped you the most!

    1. Here is the clinical definition: https://thyroideyedisease.net/diagnosis but I am sure that you meant more in the sense of things that may signal TED. It is a good question and hopefully our community members will reach out and share what originally made them thing it was TED. I hope you don't mind I took your question and turned it into a forum post!

Let's see what the responses say! Keep on keepin' on, DPM

  3. Can TED be caused by Hashimoto's Encephalopathy and Ocular Myaesthenia Gravis? I had both before TED.

  4. Basically, I have one question initially. We are into health, nutrition, and intelligent accurate analysis on whether or not a low TSH could cause Glaucoma. I have this and it is a real problem with retardation of circular fluids being hindered from normal flow. Send me, any of you, what you know about this being the root cause. We keep up with iodine intake for balance of TSH. Since 2006. I help people with the truth of low thyroid, etc. So, My eye started to go bad with the Glaucoma about 18 months or so ago. All the money grabbers wish to do is to remove the eye. Of course, personal touch of listening to patients and helping their wishes is virtually gone due to greed, etc. Professionals used to wish to help a patient's wish for sure. Anyway, share with us what you know. The affected eye used to have what is called ":Lazy Eye" or Amblyopia. Then it began to worsen to this as I mentioned. We are into healthy living very strongly. No junk and lots of water for total body, brain, and heart constant refreshing. All I was asking the eye gentlemen was to elevate my eyelid to as to relieve the pressure on the external of the eye so it would not as problematic. People that have this would understand immediately. It is not guesswork but the "genius" keep insisting there was no hope and it was best to remove the eyeball. Thanks for your feedback and knowledge of who would do the surgery here locally in Little Rock, AR. or close by. The Glaucoma is a closed or acute angle with the parameters on each side. Hope that helps. I appreciate any and all feedback with accuracy of knowledge of this "if" it was possibly related to low TSH originally or not. I caught mine being low in 2006 and studied, began to take iodine for T 3/4 upgrade and it is very quick for any and all. Nothing the FDA has will help as all natural iodine, just food, will. Very revelatory to any and all. I have helped 20 people I know who were eating Synthroid and others with no effects. Well, of course, it is a mimic and cannot produce the T 3/4 as the powerful food iodine will in pharmaceutical grade will. Thanks again.
